A Research on Archiving and Opening
to the Public of Visual Materials for VR

This project was launched in fiscal year 2019 as an IRC Project to explore the possibilities and challenges of applying new technologies to the field of history.
We focus on 360-degree panoramic imaging as a novel method for preserving and utilizing spatial information.
Through the creation of panoramic tours, we examine the significance and practical issues of using such visual technologies in historical research.
The title "Qalawun VR Project" is the nickname for this initiative, named after the Qalawun Complex,
which served as the featured site for our immersive panoramic tours.

Virtual Reality Tour

You can explore the Sultan Qalawun Complex through our current resources.
Our project is working toward developing a fully immersive tour that allows users to wear VR goggles and explore the interior of the facility freely.
